Camping in Tofino

A few weeks ago we joined Cameron's family for their annual trip to Tofino, British Columbia.

His family has been coming here for over 30 years, and if you've ever been there you understand why they keep coming back.

And if you haven't been there, pack your things now and go!

 


Tofino lies in the Pacific Rim National Park which is a stunning juxtaposition between rainforests and sandy beaches.








I am a "play in tide pools" kinda person, always have been, so if we find ourselves at a beach together, please don't expect me to sit still and watch the sunset. Or the waves. Pretty Please.

I can't, there are critters to explore!



































































 


























We where there for Canada Day (July 1st), so we all gathered on the Tofino waterfront and watched the fireworks.

We had weather close to perfection, and the day we abandoned camp, we woke up to the kind of Pacific fog we know so well in the Bay Area.

Life doesn't get much better.

Retreating to Tofino/BC/Canada for a week

I am going camping.

I am not actually big on camping while camping but I do like the thought of it. I like the thought of sleeping under stars and smelling the fresh air and listening to nature around me - but then I don't sleep because the romantic noises around me freak me out and the stars don't really keep me warm enough and the air isn 't so fresh anymore when I haven't showered for two days...and when I get back from camping I immediately think I lack practice and experience so I try again...go figure.

So I try again! This time will be different! It will be different because I know more now than I did last time. Like to pack 3times more warm things than I think and that I won't need high heels but will need flip flops.

Wish me luck! And that the bears don't find me.

A Trip And A Half

Whew, the last two weeks have been busy to say the least.
Our trip to Austria was great! Awesome! Fantastic!
It rained and/or snowed for the majority of the time, but still Cameron and I had a blast. My nephews completely took to Cameron! Flo, who is 5, has been taking English for almost a year and, man, he is quite something. I swear, it's the Fessler genes... He made up a game to play with Cameron:
He would say a word in English, and Cameron had to translate it into German....Flo won. Over and over. Hands down.
And Jakob, almost 3, he was unfazed by it all and stuck to German...nonstop.

My dad got Cameron Lederhosen. And yes, I got a Dirndl. We forgot to take pictures when we wore them out for my Grandma's birthday dinner (at a Chinese restaurant...) but I promise I'll post pictures sometime soon. I think we look stellar!!!

Cameron went lugeing in Koenigssee, Germany. I did it some years ago and skipped the second run, for the first try left me with clattering knees for fear. I could barely make it off the sled.
Cameron went down twice even though he hit the walls a few times on his first run.
Who needs a white horse, my brave knight comes down an icy shoot on a luge. What can I say.

 

I'll be posting more from our trip in the next few days!

The morning after I returned from Austria I flew to Southern California to meet up with my friends Shoey and Alicia. We attended the PPC Convention in Pasadena. Shoey and I also photographed Rachel&Jason's wedding at UC Riverside. I'll be posting images from that event sometime later.

Oh, and I also have some stunning photos from Andrea's maternity shoot to share.

Hey all,

fall has been beautiful and busy! I hope to keep you updated on this blog with everything that has been and is going on. In the weeks to come I'll be sharing pictures from recent trips to Apple Hill, my trip home to Austria and many other things that have crossed my path and mind.
